Abstract

Financial technology has seen a remarkable transformation in recent years. Systems of payments, loans, insurance, and other financial services are all being reshaped by digital technology. However, although technology has improved the diversity, competitiveness, efficiency, and inclusion of financial services in many countries, others may be struggling to keep up, resulting in Fintech divides. This article compares state-of-the-art Fintech in transition from industry 4.0 to industry 5.0 to the current state of Fintech in Bhutan's financial service industry. In the article, we argued that although Bhutan’s financial service industry has been experiencing digital revolutions in the areas of payment, borrowing, and capital markets in the recent past, it has a long way to go to meet the Fintech standard of Industry 5.0. This article also outlines the benefits that the country is experiencing due to recent growth in the use and development of Fintech, issues that hinder the financial industry in Fintech transformation, and the need for advancement and growth in Fintech to eliminate all odds.
